Two die of snake bite in Madhugiri taluk

Three persons were bitten by a snake while they were asleep inside a house at Virupagondanahalli in Madhugiri taluk, Tumakuru district, on Monday night.

Of the three, Marakka (40) and her nephew Varun (12), died. Marakka’s son, Nagaraj (20), is said to be in a serious condition and has been shifted to Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru.

According to the police, the snake may have bitten the three at around 11.30 p.m. on Monday. The family members and villagers administered traditional medicine and when they did not recover, the three were shifted to Tumakuru district government hospital.

Meanwhile, the villagers found the snake and killed it. They also took it to the government hospital to show it to the doctors.

A case has been registered at Badavanahalli police station.
