The Vivek Nagar police have arrested two chain-snatchers who had stolen the scooter of their advocate to commit robberies. The police have also recovered 310 grams of gold valuables and solved 10 cases of robberies, house-reak and vehicle theft cases.
Mohammed Zabiuddin (32) and Khaja Mohiuddin (30) from J.P. Nagar are habitual offenders involved in over 40 criminal cases in and around Bengaluru. They would take the service of an advocate residing in Tilak Nagar to bail them out whenever they get into jail, a senior police officer said.
Two months ago, the duo had stolen their advocate’s scooter using duplicate keys and tampered with the number plate before robbing 10 women in various parts of the city, covering their faces with helmets. However, luck ran out for them when one of the chain-snatching incident was recorded in a CCTV camera and the police verified the footage and recorded the registration number.
Soon the message was flashed across the city and the police kept a tab on the particular scooter. The Vivek Nagar police on Saturday nabbed the duo and a detailed questioning led them to confess to their crime, a senior police officer said.
