Bipin Kumar received a shock early on Wednesday after his brother Jai Singh called to inform him of the bus accident at Mahabubnagar in Andhra Pradesh. The magnitude of the accident dawned on him after Jai Singh informed him that their brothers, Ajay and Sonu Kumar, had been charred to death.
The three brothers were travelling by the bus. Jai was among the five persons who survived the inferno. He had been admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad.
The brothers, who hail from Uttar Pradesh, are among the thousands of migrant workers in the construction industry from north India.
The brothers as well as another worker, Vijay, were being taken to Hyderabad by a glass and aluminium subcontractor for Bangalore-based Spectra FAB Engineers, K.S. Nanjunde Gowda (29).
They were supposed to take glass measurements from a construction site in Genome Valley, Hyderabad’s hi-tech park.
The office of Spectra FAB Engineers in Banashanari 3rd Stage was closed on Wednesday.
“Bipin informed us soon after he received the call and came to our office. We made arrangements for him to fly to Hyderabad and one of our employees accompanied him,” said an official, who did not want to be named. Bipin’s relatives are also expected to reach Hyderabad shortly, he added.
According to him, Nanjunde was a resident of Anjaneya Nagar, near Ittamadu here.
He hailed from a village, near Mulbagul, in Kolar, and had been taking subcontracts for Spectra for around four years. “Soon after the news broke, his relatives came and took his three-year old son and wife back to their village, while family members went to Mahabubnagar to identify and bring back his body,” the official said.
