The TVS Racing Team showcased its talent and trophies at a media meet here on Wednesday to mark the silver jubilee of its entry in two-wheeler racing, now a major sport in the country.
Early days
It was way back in 1984 when TVS ventured into the then nascent sport with its modest TVS 50 moped.
In the first year itself, TVS 50 outraced the leader, Suvega. From then, it moved into a higher plane, competing and building better bikes like Supra, Shogun Fiero, and the current four-stroke mean machines like Apache and Apache RTR.
“We've won all kinds of races like motocross, super cross rally and drag events and we have over 100 champion trophies. Some of the best riders of the past and present have been a part of TVS Racing,” said Arvind Pangaonkar, General Manager, R&D, TVS Motor.
‘Big role'
C.S. Santosh, the current super cross champion, acknowledged the big role played by the TVS team in shaping his career.
Later, the TVS riders showed their mettle on the road, which was closed to traffic for a while, with their breathtaking stunts, leaving the cheering band of motorbike fans craving for more..
