Under pressure from money lenders, the couple chalked out a plan to kidnap Pavitra

A 21-year-old tuition teacher and her boyfriend have been arrested by Rajajinagar police for allegedly kidnapping a 14-year-old student and demanding a ransom of Rs. 25 lakh, on Wednesday.

The accused, Aishwarya, a B.Com student, who also took tuitions for the victim, allegedly planned the kidnap to help her boyfriend clear his debts. The victim has been identified Pavitra.

According to the police, the accused, Nagabhushan (26), an MBA graduate, had incurred losses in a hotel venture. the police said.

During the course of tuition classes, Aishwarya reportedly came to know that Pavitra’s parents were looking to purchase a house from their savings. Under pressure from money lenders, the couple chalked out a plan to kidnap Pavitra and seek a ransom of Rs. 25 lakh to clear their debts.

As per the plan, Nagabhushan, on Wednesday, followed Pavitra when she left home for tuitions, and offered her a lift. He took her to his house in Banashankari and locked her up after tying her hands and legs, and gagged her mouth. Later, he called up Pavitra’s mother and placed a demand of Rs. 25 lakh for her safe release.

Shocked by the turn of events, Pavithra’s mother went to Aishwarya’s house and found that she was missing. The Rajaji Nagar police swung into action, and on suspicion verified the call records of Aishwarya, who was calling Nagabhushan frequently to give updates. On detailed questioning, Aishwarya reportedly confessed to the crime. The police rescued the girl and later asked Aishwarya to call Nagabhushan to come and collect the money near Binny Mill. The police arrested Nagabhushan when he came to collect the money.

The duo must be charged and tried for kidnapping and sentenced for twenty five years without parole. People have become highly materialistic and these incidents have become daily occurrence in today's India. Movies and TV series have played great havoc in the lives and minds of today's youngsters. The movies and TV series depict the hero as douche bags with no education, roaming the streets, making love, getting inebriated and indulging in heinous crimes like burglary, murder for gains etc and in the later part of the movies/TV series the heroes are shown as becoming successful men and they even become politicians. This has corrupted the minds of teens. The teachers should inculcate the good manners in the minds of younger generation who are going to be future leaders of the country. Moral Instruction classes should be made compulsory up to at least elementary level.

There is nothing new in this incident as people in our country especially so called educated have no form of ethics or self respect. This incident and similar other incidents time and again keep on tell us that our education system is so rotten and outdated that one does not know how to think and what ethics mean. Sad state. Are there any human beings in our country whom we can believe and trust and the answer is there is no one. KAASU, THUDDU, PANAM, MONEY MONEY..

What I find strange is on comparison with gang rape this is a less serious crime. Gang rape accused are masked in photos while these 2 are shown in full view for public shame. May be greater the crime, better off the criminals !!! that's the reason why politicians who are accused of swindling billions smile at the press and continue with their ways while a pick pocket is beaten black and blue in the police station - Mera Bharat Mahan

This is really sad and horrifying.People get in to business by taking
loans and end up as criminals. While dreaming is not bad, taking loans to
realize the dream is foolish and dangerous.Kudos to police who solved
this without harm to the victim.

Hi Aishwarya,
In your 3 yrs. B.com studies no one thought you nature's laws "law of
cause and effect". I think you forgot "Roam can't be built in
overnight". Teaching is an astounding profession by the way we can dwell
and letting others to follow us. At least now you thought a lesson for
forthcoming youngsters.

It is not the problem with youngsters. It is the action of "beliefs" what an individual embrace and practice.

Shameful act! These people lack values.Their degree's is of no use neither their life is now.I feel sorry for their parents. They must be shattered on seeing their photos.
Education today is used only for making money. The very purpose of education seems to be lost here.
Youngsters should believe in hardwork,Honesty,Patience in life.
Quick money using shortcuts will only bring trouble.

The Darwin Awards are a tongue-in-cheek honor; recognize individuals
who have supposedly contributed to human evolution by self-selecting
themselves out of the gene pool via death or sterilization by their
own (unnecessarily foolish) actions.

The award also recognizes individuals, who survive their misadventures
with their reproductive capacity intact, with Honorable Mentions.
Both the culprits are eligible for Honorable Mention in The Darwin
Award!
