Truck fatally knocks down bike rider

A 29-year-old petrol pump station employee, Mallikarjuna, was killed on the spot when a speeding truck knocked down his motorcycle at Kuvempu Road subway in Jalahalli on Wednesday night.

Mallikarjuna, a resident of Thindlu, was returning home from work. He is survived by his wife and two children. The Jalahalli traffic police have seized the truck and efforts are on to track down the driver, who is on the run.

Mechanic killed

In another accident, a 23-year-old mechanic was killed and his friend injured when a truck carrying a motorcycle to a showroom knocked down their bike near RNS Motors in RMC Yard on Wednesday. Vinod Kumar, a resident of Rajajinagar, was returning home from work with his friend Satish.

The truck, which took a sudden U-turn, knocked down their bike and ran over them. While Vinod Kumar was killed on the spot, Satish was rushed to a private hospital, where he is currently being treated.

The Yeshwanthpur traffic police have taken up a case and are investigating.
