The West Division police have arrested three persons from Gujarat in connection with 13 cases of house break and recovered gold and silver valuables worth Rs. 48 lakh from them.

The gang leader, Talapad Navagan Bhai, had been living in a rented house at Hosakerehalli for the past five years. The accused, with the help of his associates Rajesh (32) and Mitesh Panchal (25), would move around in a car to identify locked houses. After a close watch, they would break in and steal the valuables.

The police said Navagan Bhai would melt gold and silver and send them to Gujarat for disposal. If the quantum of gold and silver was substantial, he would either drive to Gujarat or fly there, a senior police officer said.

Their luck ran out when the Vijayanagar police identified the trio through CCTV grabs and nabbed one of them. After detailed questioning, the police were able to recover 1.25 kg of gold, 150 kg of silver and a new sedan. Police believe that the trio broke into at least 13 houses. They are in pursuit of Navagan Bhai’s wife who is believed to have played a vital role in the crimes. A case has been registered.
