Tragedy strikes couple in Nandi Hills

A trip to Nandi Hills ended on a tragic note for a couple from Hassan, after the wife fell from a cliff and died, while the husband suffered severe injuries.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening when M. Kumar and his wife Sunitha went to Nandi Hills for a trip. The couple were sitting on a rock behind Mayura Hotel, when Sunitha tried to get up. However, she slipped and fell, police officials said. In an attempt to rescue his wife, the man tried to hold her hand and he too fell down. However, he got stuck between two boulders and fell unconscious, according to his narration of events to the police.

According to the police, the man regained his consciousness a couple of hours later and went to the hotel and took the staff’s help to alert the police. The woman's body was found in a valley at least 300 ft below, after a drone search operation.

The couple who are residents of Hasan had come to Bengaluru to visit their relatives, police said.
