Traffic snarls during Monday peak hour

Commuters taking the Outer Ring Road and Old Airport Road to work on a Monday morning had a tough time navigating the crucial Marathahahlli junction, especially below the flyover.

There was a pile up of vehicles for several kilometres and the traffic was slow moving. The reason: a BMTC Volvo bus travelling towards K.R. Puram had a brake failure at around 6.45 a.m. and the driver, in his attempt to bring the bus to a halt, hit the median and crossed it, blocking traffic both ways.

The bus was removed from the area post 9 a.m. when the road was cleared for unhindered traffic flow. However, by then the pile up of vehicles was huge and the traffic flow was affected.

Fortunately, only three passengers were there in the bus along with the driver and the conductor when the accident occurred. All of them escaped unhurt.
