Continuing the drive against the erring autorickshaws, the West Division Traffic police seized 15 autorickshaws for demanding excess fares near Esteem Mall on Thursday.

A sting operation led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic - West Division) approached the autorickshaws queued up in front of Esteem Mall in Hebbal and seized 15 autorikshaws after booking them for multiple violations.

While some of them refused to come on hire and demanded excess fares, many of them do not even have required permits to ply the vehicle, a senior police officer said.

The police slapped fine on the drivers and seized their driving licenses which would be sent to the Regional Transport Offices concerned for suspension.

The drive will continue around the city to weed out the erring autorickshaw drivers plying illegally and violating the norms, he said.
