The Republic Day Flower Show, being held in Lalbagh over the next 10 days, was inaugurated by Horticulture Minister S.A. Ravindranath here on Friday.

The exhibits here include large flower-and-foliage installations modelled after the Eiffel Tower and of Swami Vivekananda. The first is a vertiginous 35 feet, and organisers say over 2.5 lakh roses and orchids were used to create the lofty structure.

Besides flowers, both indigenous and exotic, there are stalls displaying fruits and vegetables too.

The Horticulture Department expects over 7 lakh visitors over the 10 days. The entry fee for the show is Rs. 40 for adults and Rs. 10 for children aged below 12.
