A one-and-half-year old toddler was crushed to death when a construction material-laden truck ran over him while he was playing in front of his house in Yelahanka on Wednesday. The deceased, Shivu, was son of Honnappa, a construction labourer from Yadgir.

The couple along with the child are staying in the under-construction residential house at Shiva Shakthi Sai Layout. The incident occurred at around 10.30 a.m. when Honnappa and wife were busy unloading construction material while Shibu was playing at the back of the parked truck. After unloading, the driver started the truck and ran over Shivu while reversing the vehicle.

The Yelahanka traffic police arrested the driver, Prakash.
