Upa Lokayukta Subhash B. Adi has ordered a survey of the Cubbon Park area to resolve disputes of the boundaries of the park area and also identify alleged illegal constructions in the area. The City Survey Department, Survey Settlement and Land Records is entrusted with the survey. Officials from the department have sought two months’ time to complete the survey and submit their final report.

S. Umesh, president of the Cubbon Park Walkers' Association, had lodged a complaint that illegal constructions had come up on the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) premises and the Yavanika, State Youth Centre coming under the Cubbon Park area. Mr. Umesh said that the civic authorities and the Horticulture Department had failed to preserve the park as per the provisions of the Karnataka Parks, Play-Fields and Open Spaces (Preservation and Regulation) Act, 1985.

Upa Lokayukta Subhash B. Adi convened a meeting with the Principal Secretary, Horticulture Department, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials and Deputy Director of Land Records (City Survey), when the survey was commissioned. The survey report should be submitted to the office of Upa Lokayukta by November 14 this year. A senior official from the Survey Department said that they would state the official position of land grant to various authorities like the Secretariat Club, Public Works Department, YMCA and Yavanika and it was up to the government and the Lokayukta to take a call on the issue.
