The city police have put in place elaborate security arrangements in and around M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here in view of Tuesday’s India-Pakistan Twenty20 match.
The police have also imposed restrictions on movement of vehicles and parking around the stadium. The State’s counter-terror response force, which has been set up on the lines of the elite National Security Guard, will be deployed for security during the match, Police Commissioner B.G. Jyothi Prakash Mirji has said.
A release from the office of State police chief said that the counter-terror response force has been named ‘Garuda Force’ and it will have two operational groups to ensure round-the-clock response capacity.
In a press release, the police said that apart from deploying 2,400 police personnel of different ranks drawn from various police stations, services of 12 Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) platoons and 10 City Armed Reserve (CAR) platoons would be utilised for security arrangements.
Traffic restrictions
According to the release, the following restrictions will be in force between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. on Tuesday. Traffic movement will be restricted on Queen’s Road and parking will be banned in and around the stadium.
The stadium gates will close by 2 p.m. on Tuesday and those without tickets will not be allowed inside the barricaded area.
Police outposts will be set up near Gate no. 1, and CCTVs have been installed in and around the stadium, the release said.
Banned
Cigarettes, beedis, tobacco, matchbox, lighter, water bottles, bags, video cameras and still cameras, alcohol bottles, knife or any other sharp object, explosive material, flags, sticks, plastic covers, helmets and food items have been banned inside the stadium, the release said.
