Three schoolchildren drowned in Noogalabande tank under Mulabagal police limits when they reportedly went for a swim on Friday.

The police gave the name of the victims as Syed Salauddin (16), Vasim Akram (13) and Junaid (13).

While Salauddin was a 10th standard students of Government Pre University College in town, Junaid and Akram were class seven students in a private school.

The police said Salauddin appeared for the SSLC science examination in the morning and went for a swim along with Akram and Junaid without going home. When they didn’t return home after examinations, their anxious parents began to look for them.

The bodies of all three boys were traced in the Noogalabande tank during search. With help from locals, their bodies were recovered from the tank. The bodies, which were kept in the Government Hospital, were handed over to the families on Saturday morning, the police said.
