The city police arrested three more suspects — Penkasi Sulaiman, Manbhai Sulaiman and Rahmatullah — in connection with April 17 Malleswaram bomb blast case, taking the number of arrests to nine.
Penkasi Sulaiman was picked up by Bangalore police on April 22 but released the next day.
He was picked up again by the Karnataka and Coimbatore police in connection with the violence related to Kamal Hassan’s film Vishwaroopam in Coimbatore three months ago.
Explosives
The police said that he handed over the explosives to Kichan Buhari, which were passed on to him by Asghar Ali who, in turn, got it from Valayil Hakeem.
These three have also been arrested, apart from Peer Mohideen, Sunnati Basheer and Saddam Hussain,
Investigation on
Confirming the latest arrests, Joint Commissioner of Police Pronab Mohanty said that their exact role in the blast is being investigated.
In court
All the nine were produced before court and the Central Crime Branch sought further custody of both the Sulaimans, Rahmatullah and Buhari, but they complained of torture such as beatings, electric shocks and sleep deprivation.
The police produced the medical certificate of all suspects before court as part of the procedure. However, they could not produce Buhari’s.
Medical check
Taking objection to this, the court asked the police to get him checked up at K.C. General Hospital and produce the certificate on Tuesday.
The police are looking for three more suspects — Banne Ismail, Fakhruddin and Bilal.
