Close on the heels of the rape of an eight-year-old girl, another case of sexual assault on a child came to light on Monday night at Nehrupuram.
Three men lured a nine-year-old girl, who was returning from a madrasa around 6 p.m., to a deserted house and tried to rape her. They fled away when she started screaming. The terrified child, on reaching home, told her parents about it and her father immediately contacted the Bharatinagar police.
The girl has bite marks on her and was taken for a medical exam.

The victim, between 35 and 40, died when a gang attacked him with lethal weapons.
The police said the main accused, Ravi alias Vali, and Raghu were doing time in the Central Jail when Raghu badgered Ravi to arrange for money from his family. Even after Ravi was released from prison, Raghu continued to threaten him for the money.
Angered by this, Ravi allegedly plotted with his associates to bump off Raghu, a career criminal, after his release.
