Three killed, 2 injured in Bangalore accidents

Three persons, including a two-year-old girl, were killed in separate accidents in different parts of the city.

Two-year-old Bhumika was killed when a speeding lorry knocked her down in Chikkajala on Wednesday. Bhumika was playing in front of her house, when the lorry knocked her down and sped away. A profusely bleeding Bhumika was rushed to a private hospital and later shifted to Yelahanka for further treatment where she was declared brought dead. The Chikkajala police have registered a hit-and-run case against the driver and efforts are on to nab him.

In another incident, a pillion rider of a motorcycle was killed and the rider severely injured when their bike rammed a median in front of PES College on Hosur Road early on Thursday. The deceased Kenchappa Motappanavar fell from the bike and an iron rod from the railing pierced his chest killing him instantly. The motorcycle rider has been identified as Rajesh (25), who was also injured, but is out of danger. The police have booked a case of culpable homicide against Rajesh after he was reportedly found driving under the influence of alcohol.

A 24-year-old lorrydriver was killed on the spot and the cleaner sustained injuries when their vehicle rammed another lorry parked on the roadside near NICE Road on Mysore Road in the early hours on Thursday. The driver, Sharath, was on his way to Chintamani to bring a load of tomatoes.
