Three persons were arrested by the Kengeri police on Sunday after a 17-year-old pre-university student, who was allegedly attacked by them two weeks ago, died of injuries in a hospital here on Saturday night.

The victim, Gourish, was admitted after he was allegedly attacked by a gang on the evening of May 13.

The accused were identified as Sharath (22), Abbas (20), and a minor, all residents of Gandhi Nagar.

On May 13, Gourish was talking to his classmate Mohan near his house in Gandhi Nagar when the gang approached them and started arguing with Mohan on the charge that he was opposing them on some issue.

During an altercation, one of the gang members slapped Mohan following which Mohan fled. However, the gang assumed that Gourish was Mohan’s friend and attacked him as well. Then Sharath allegedly stabbed Gourish on the shoulder with a dagger.

The Kengeri police, who have registered a case, are on the lookout for three others, Prajwal, Ranga and Paul, suspected to be involved in the attack.

The police said that they are yet to ascertain the reason for the attack.
