Two people sustained injuries when a recklessly driven sports utility vehicle (SUV) rammed into a BMTC bus and an auto-rickshaw in a bid to overtake a motorist at Nanjappa Circle in Vidyaranyapura on Monday morning in Hebbal traffic police station on Monday.
Traffic movement on the busy BEL Road was disrupted for sometime and three vehicles were damaged in this chain accident stranded other vehicles leading to chaos, the traffic police said.
The SUV driver, identified as Athmanathan (54), a resident of Vidyaranyapura was arrested by the Hebbal traffic police.
The incident occurred around 8.00 a.m. when the SUV was coming from Vidyaranyapura towards Nanjappa Circle. Auto-rickshaw driver, Prakash (40), sustained injuries on head and neck while Neeraj (38), the passenger, travelling in the auto-rickshaw escaped with minor injuries.
The SUV driver lost control over the wheels and dashed into a BMTC bus which in turn hit an auto-rickshaw leading to a chain accident.
Passers-by, who noticed the accident, nabbed the accused driver and informed the police who rushed to the spot and arrested him.
A case is registered in Hebbal Traffic police station.
