Three APMC officials arrested for graft

The Lokayukta raid on the agricultural produce marketing committee (APMC) at Singena Agrahara on Saturday, revealed discrepancies in billing by traders as well as corruption among officials.

Based on a tip-off, the sleuths arrested APMC supervisors Somashekar, Papireddy and Sridhara Murthy on charges of accepting bribe from those taking out vegetables and fruits from the APMC yard and recovered Rs. 24,275.

During the raid, they also found discrepancies in billing by the traders, between what was actually transacted and the billed transaction. The raid led by superintendents of police Iada Martin Marbaniang and M. Ashwini comprised five deputy superintendents of police and 14 inspectors, a release said.
