Thieves broke into a series of parked cars on Bandemaramma Temple Street in the early hours of Wednesday and stole the music systems.

Jnanabharathi police said the thieves used glass cutters to cut through the car windows and removed high-end stereo systems from four parked cars.

The police suspect the thefts might have taken place between 12.30 a.m. and 4.30 a.m. The vehicle owners, most of them private company employees, had parked their cars in front of their homes.

The shocked owners, who now have to replace the car windows and stereos, told the police the thieves also stolen mobile phone chargers, idols and some other materials from the cars. “It is the first time such crime has been reported in our area,” one said.
