Scores of IAS aspirants took the mock exam of the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) seminar which was conducted here on Saturday by the Triumphant Institute of Management Education (T.I.M.E) in association with The Hindu EducationPlus.
Participants included students as well as working professionals who aimed to write their prelims of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) later this year.
Mock test
However, a large number of students also came to take the mock test and participate in the interactive seminar to get a feel of the CSAT paper’s pattern. Apart from the CSAT exam, IAS aspirants will also have to take the first paper of the prelims, which is the general studies paper that tests the student’s general knowledge.
Quick tips
During the seminar, Naba Kumar Goswamy, CSAT head at T.I.M.E., threw light on the paper’s pattern, provided quick tips on how to crack difficult problems by using short-cut techniques and analysed the previous year’s paper.
Most students that The Hindu spoke to said the seminar helped them learn and explore the pattern of the paper. Komal B. Prakash, Class 12 student from Sophia High School, said: “The seminar was useful especially for people who are unaware about the procedures and requirements for CSAT. The question banks were extremely helpful and extensive. I came here to explore my options and the seminar gave me a lot of information about the field and the test.”
‘Useful’
Another student, Vemanth V., said that taking up competitive exams helped him enrich his knowledge for the placements. “I am already studying for many exams which will help me with my placements, so it was not that different from what I had been studying. The analytical and logical reasoning sections of the workshop were particularly useful.”
