Police personnel were not going on mass leave and there will not be any protest on June 4, claimed Om Prakash, Director-General and Inspector-General of Police.

Addressing reporters here on Thursday, he said that senior police officials, including Superintendents of Police, were assured by the constabularies that they won’t participate in the protest called by the Akhila Karnataka Police Mahasangha. He added that the IGP and SPs have taken stock of the situation.

“We admit there are grievances… but they can be resolved amicably,” he said.

Mr. Om Prakash also said that the protest was instigated by dismissed police constables, who have been arrested. He added that none of the constables in service have been arrested.

“We are keeping a tab on some elements within the mahasangha and other rowdy elements supporting the strike. Strict action will be initiated against these persons,” he said.
