The second edition of The Hindu Young World Summer Smart Camp began in the city on Monday.

Open to children in the 8-13 age group, the five-day camp, which will be on till May 13, is being held at three centres: Army Public School, Kamaraj Road; Vasavi Vidya Nikethan English Primary & High School, No. 3, Vani Vilas Road, V.V. Puram; and Sree Cauvery School, Kodava Samaja Education Council, CA-01, Double Road, Indiranagar 2nd Stage.

More than 260 children are participating in the camp.

Each day has exciting sessions with a specially curated mix of content from the following topics: robotics, theatre, English, quiz, and art.

The ‘Robotics’ session gives children hands-on training on basic robotic components and helps them plunge deep into the world of autonomous robots. Participants will take home their own robotics kit.

The ‘Know Your English’ session deals with the funny quirks — oxymorons, spoonerisms, analogies and more, interspersed with fun games. In the ‘Quiz’ session, participants learn approaches to pick up trivia from the world around them.

In the ‘Art’ session, students are encouraged to tap their creativity. And in the ‘Theatre’ session, children will dive into fun theatre exercises, tackling team building and leadership skills in a fun-filled way, apart from participating in activities to enhance performance skills, acting skills and voice modulation for dramatic performances.
