Theatre troupes from five countries will converge on the Ranga Shankara this month to lay claim to the eternal legacy of William Shakespeare.
Ranga Shankara founder Arundhati Nag announced plans for a 16-day theatre festival that will feature plays adapted, translated and inspired by the Bard of Avon.
Addressing a press conference here Thursday, with playwright Girish Karnad by her side, Ms. Nag said that this was Ranga Shankara’s first international annual festival with productions from South Sudan, Kenya, Georgia, Bangladesh and India.
A theatre and arts appreciation course facilitated by art critic and scholar Sadanand Menon, with Girish Karnad, Ashok Vajpeyi, Girish Kasaravalli, S.G. Vasudev, Uday Bhawalkar, Lynne Fernandez, Surupa Sen, Bijayini Satpathy and Anmol Vellani will also be held.
