It is testing times for Class 10 students taking the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Board examination, which commenced on Wednesday.

Initially tense students were relieved to find number crunching easier than expected. Tanvi Pramod, a student of Cluny Convent, said: “The maths paper was easy but lengthy. However, as the questions were not very tough to crack; some of us finished the paper half an hour early.” Andrea D’Souza, another student, said solving previous years’ papers helped a great deal.

Parents flocked in large numbers to the centres, some even waiting anxiously till their children emerged after writing the exam. Pramod B., a parent, said he accompanied his daughter on the first day to lend her moral support for her. “Children need it as the exams are going to go on till almost the end of the month,” he added. The next exam is English language paper scheduled for Friday.
