The death of a 14-year-old student on the premises of his school remains a mystery for the police and his family.

Early Thursday morning, authorities of a private school in Madanayakanahalli were shocked to find one of their students dead in front of his classroom.

According to the police, the class 8 student had allegedly entered the premises in the wee hours. The incident came to light around 7.30 a.m. when staff found him lying on the floor. The boy is suspected to have entered the school at least an hour before the body was discovered. The school authorities immediately alerted the police and the boy’s family.

A police officer investigating the case said they were awaiting the post mortem report.

“The parents are unable to understand why their son had gone to school at that hour. Our initial suspicion is that he might have suffered from a snake bite. However, we cannot be sure until we get the post mortem report,” the official said.

The boy’s house is a stone’s throw away from the school and he had left the house without his parents’ knowledge, said the police.

His parents run a panipuri stall in Madanayakanahalli limits, police said.
