The police suspect that software engineer S. Sriraj (25), whose body was found under mysterious circumstances in his car on Tuesday morning, had committed suicide.

A senior police official told The Hindu Wednesday that the autopsy findings suggest that Sriraj could have killed himself. “The findings are only indicative. We are awaiting a detailed forensic report to confirm whether it is suicide or murder,” he added.

As the forensic experts at the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital had to conduct 10 autopsies on Wednesday, they could not give a detailed report. Besides, Sriraj had taken some pills and it would take time to ascertain the chemical details of the tablets, the official said.

Sriraj's body was found on the rear seat of his new car that was abandoned near a park in AECS Layout, where he lived in a rented house. His face had been covered with a thick plastic cover sealed with duct tape. His legs were also bound with the tape.

The police suspect the HP employee, a native of Kozhikode in Kerala, committed suicide as a Bangalore woman he met in a chat room turned down his marriage proposal.
