In its fifth edition this year, DesignACE, the annual engineering design contest organised by Barry-Wehmiller International Resources (BWIR), invites engineering students to participate in an engineering design contest. The contest is open to budding engineers from south Indian States. The theme for the 2013 edition is ‘Innovations and ideas for lifestyle improvement’. A release from the organisers said that entries would be judged on the parameters of depth and clarity of thinking, innovation and design capability to create big ideas for clever lifestyle. SAP LABS EXPANDS PRESENCE
ERP solutions provider SAP announced the expansion of the SAP Labs India office in Bangalore with the planned construction of an additional sustainable, LEED-certified building. Located in Whitefield, the new facility will be operational in two years. In a release, Gerhard Oswald, member of the Executive Board and Global Managing Board of SAP AG said: “India is among the growth markets for SAP, both from a talent, and a business perspective. This new facility is keeping in pace with the global expansion plan of SAP.”
JUNIPER RELEASES EXTRA RUGGED ROUTERS
Networking major Juniper Networks announced the introduction of the LN2600 Rugged Secure Router, its latest addition to the SN series router portfolio. A release from Juniper stated that the routers are purpose built to provide high-performance network routing, next-generation firewall, and unified threat management capabilities in a single hardened platform. The LN2600 is designed to withstand vibrations and shock, and is able to operate in extreme temperatures between -40 C to +71 C and relies on conduction, as opposed to traditional fans, for cooling, the release added.
