The Bangalore police on Thursday extended the deadline for removing sun film from vehicles by 15 days. Vehicle owners have been now given time till June 5 to comply.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) M.A. Saleem, in a press release, said the earlier deadline of May 18 has been extended after citizens and some organisations sought more time.
Although the police were supposed to enforce the Supreme Court order on removing sun films from May 4, the police had given a 15-day grace period to the public. Subsequently, the police set up free sun film removal centres at 10 spots in the city. These centres, according to a senior official, will function till June 5 and the police, in all likelihood, will start enforcement from June 6.
Incidentally, there are several private enterprises removing the film for a fee.
