“The society is taken over by corruption and we need to build democratic mass movement to bring about revolutionary transformations in society,” said politbureau member of Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) Krishna Chakraborty here on Sunday.
Participating in the 63rd Foundation Day of the SUCI, he said the SUCI was fighting corruption and sought people's support in this movement.
B.R. Manjunath, secretary, Bangalore District Committee of SUCI, stressed the need for cost-effective projects based on the necessity of people to avoid squandering of public money and to prevent policies that favour the interest of capitalists.
Referring to the charges of illegalities in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mr. Manjunath said: “Cricket has become a business with people who are not even related to it, being a part of it.”
