Student trying to help girl beaten up

A student was beaten up by a group of three near the Byrathi Cross in Kothanur on Wednesday when he tried rescuing a girl who was being harassed by them.

Police identified the victim as Samuel (21) from Manipur. He is pursuing first-year B.A. in a private college.

At around 7.30 p.m., Samuel was a witness to a case of harassment near Byrathi Cross.

He objected to the group harassing the girl. The trio, angered by his interference, beat him up and pushed him to the ground. Samuel suffered severe head injuries.

Seeing the commotion, a few passersby rushed to his aid, upon which the trio escaped.

Samuel was rushed to hospital and the police were alerted. The Kothanur police have registered a complaint.

Man murdered

A printing press owner was murdered at his in-laws’ house on 17th Cross in Banashankari on Wednesday morning. Police said Kiran Kumar (35), resident of Chamarajpet, was visiting his in-laws when the incident took place. At around 8.15 a.m., Kumar’s wife Ashwini was in the washroom, and his parents-in-law were in their room on the first floor when the doorbell rang.

As Kumar was in the hall, he opened the door. Three men barged into the house, threw chilli powder on his face and attacked him with lethal weapons.

Police said Kumar screamed for help and his in-laws rushed down to find three men escaping from the house and the victim bleeding profusely.

He was rushed to Dayananda Sagar Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

According to police, Kumar had started financing business recently though earlier he only worked in the printing press along with his wife.

Toddler molested

A three-year-old girl was molested allegedly by a neighbourhood tailor in Peenya on Wednesday.

The victim started screaming which alerted the passersby.

They rescued the girl and caught Siddachari, a tailor from T. Dasarahalli and beat him up.

The accused managed to escape before the police could reach the spot.

Police have registered a case under POCSO and have launched a search for the suspect.
