The parents of a class 10 student, who attempted suicide, accused the school management of “mentally harassing” the girl as she had failed to pay the fee for the previous academic year. A police complaint has been filed at the D.J. Halli police station, they said.
Noosa M., her uncle, alleged that school authorities insulted the child after the assembly. “They asked for the fee in front of all her classmates. She came home and tried to jump off the fourth floor. Fortunately, her mother saved her,” he said.
S.R. Harish, secretary of Nehru Centenary English School near R.T. Nagar, rubbished the allegation and said the parents were fabricating stories as they owed Rs. 10,400. “We asked her to remind her parents to pay the fee for the last academic year, but we did not insult or harass her,” he said.
