The Bangalore South East police on Thursday claimed to have cracked 172 cases with the arrest of 117 persons and have recovered articles worth Rs. 2.39 crore from their possession.
The arrested were involved in theft, chain snatching and robbery cases, Police Commissioner B.G. Jyothi Prakash Mirji told presspersons here on Thursday.
The goods recovered include 11 cars, two tippers, 55 two wheelers, three autorickshaws, 37 gold chains, 12 gold necklaces, one diamond necklace, 26 pairs of gold earrings, 18 rings, 13 pairs of gold bangles, 34 laptops, silvers crowns that were stolen from temples and electronic material. Mr. Mirji added that Rs. 68.90 lakh was also recovered. The alleged offenders had committed crimes in Koramangala, Mico Layout, Madivala, Tilak Nagar, Parappana Agrahara, Electronic City, Varthur, HSR Layout, Airport, Hulimavu, Kadugodi and HAL Police Station limits. The recovered property was displayed at the Koramangala Police Station on Thursday morning.
After a formal function, Mr. Mirji returned the recovered goods to several claimants. Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) T. Suneel Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Alok Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East Division) Dr. P.S. Harsha and other officials were present.
