The district unit of the Karnataka State Building and Other Construction Workers’ Federation, affiliated to the Centre for Indian Trade Unions, has planned to lay siege to the Deputy Commissioner's office on Wednesday in support of various demands.

This protest is going to be held in all districts in the state. A state-level conference of the federation held recently at Kundapura in Udupi district has given the call to the district units of the federation to gherao the office of the Deputy Commissioner to draw the state government’s attention to the grievances of the construct workers.

Disposal of applications submitted by construction workers seeking various facilities in a time frame, release of funds under various schemes, hike of pension to ₹3,000 are some of the major demands, the federation said in a release. It has also demanded that glitches in the online registration system be solved effectively.
