Director-General and Inspector-General of Police L.R. Pachau has written to Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner Rajneesh Goel seeking records relating to civil works or projects executed in Gandhinagar, Malleswaram and Rajarajeswarinagar divisions of the BBMP.

These three divisions are under the scanner as the Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the multi-crore bogus bill scam. The CID is pouring over 2,420 files and 56 measurement books in Gandhinagar, 45 files and 11 books in Malleswaram and 994 files and 126 measurement books in Rajarajeshwarinagar.

Mr. Goel has confirmed that he received the letter seeking BBMP records pertaining to these controversial cases. But, he did not specify the nature of the information sought, or what part of the scam these requests pertained to.

No files

Mr. Goel said that his subordinate officials have told him that the BBMP did not have any files pertaining to this scam. “I have asked our officials to give it in black and white. The same will be sent to the office of Mr. Pachau,” he said, adding that the BBMP had been cooperating in every possible way in the investigation.

The scam was unearthed earlier by the then BBMP commissioner Siddaiah. It was an estimated Rs. 1,539-crore scam, dealing with three divisions. It was unearthed by the Technical Vigilance Cell under Commissioner (TVCC). Subsequently, the probe was handed over to Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF), but later the government decided to involve the CID in the probe. The case is currently being entirely investigated by the CID.

Sources said that a report on the works executed in the remaining divisions has been prepared and submitted to the Department of Urban Development.

This was prepared following a High Court directive to the BBMP, when it was hearing a PIL petition in this regard.
