The upcoming State Assembly elections appear to have taken precedence over everything else, including the vital procedures for the Common Entrance Test (CET). The April 10 deadline that the State government had set for itself to arrive at details for the seat sharing agreement with private colleges, discussions on the fee hike demand by private engineering colleges, and the like has passed but there is no sign of any of the procedures being completed.

Early in March, Higher Education Minister C.T. Ravi had announced that all the details pertaining to the State-administered entrance test to professional courses would be finalised by April 10.

Higher Education Principal Secretary Rajneesh Goel said he had not received reports from the Department of Technical Education or the KEA and convening of meeting was up to the Ministry.
