SpiceJet resumed flights to Hubballi on Sunday.

The airline now offers daily direct flights to the city twice from Bengaluru and once from Mumbai.

The flight service to Hubballi resumed with the departure of a flight from Bengaluru at 8.50 a.m. and was flagged off by Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar.

A press release said the service to Hubballi had been temporarily suspended since August 2014.

This was because the runway was being repaired and strengthened. With the recommencement of service, Hubbali will not just be directly connected to Bengaluru and Mumbai, but also connected to Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Vijayawada, and Jabalpur on SpiceJet’s domestic network, and to Dubai via Mumbai in its international network.

SpiceJet Ltd. Chief Operating Officer Sanjiv Kapoor said, “With the re-induction of Hubballi in its network, SpiceJet has re-connected an important business centre of Karnataka by air with rest of the country.”
