Traders of S.P. Road and adjoining areas in the city on Saturday downed shutters till noon in support of the anti-corruption campaign launched by Anna Hazare.

The traders observed a bandh from 9 a.m. to noon.

Traders in S.P. Road and surrounding areas mainly deal in electronic goods and hardware items. Merchants stood outside their closed shops in groups and shouted slogans in favour of Mr. Hazare.

Later, they took out a march to Town Hall, holding the tricolour and banners bearing slogans against corruption.

Agarwal of G.K. Traders told The Hindu that the trading community too was harassed for bribe by government officials. He cited the example of how the trading community was at the mercy of officials of the Commercial Tax Department over issue of ‘C' forms.
