January 29, 2013 08:32 am | Updated June 13, 2016 02:28 am IST - Bangalore:

The body of Souvik Pal, the 19-year-old student found dead in a canal in Old Trafford in Manchester, is expected to arrive here by 8 a.m. on January 31.

Family friend Rudra Roy said that Souvik’s father Santanu Pal will accompany the coffin.

Souvik, a product design student of Manchester Metropolitan University, went missing from a nightclub on New Year’s Eve, triggering a much-publicised search. The body was recovered on January 22.

Mr. Roy said that the Pals have sought Interpol help in investigating the death. This comes in the wake of the Indian government letter to Interpol, seeking help.

The family also received a handwritten condolence letter by U.K.’s Health Minister Anna Soubry.
