A 27-year-old software engineer leapt to his death from the fourth floor of an under-construction building in Singasandra, near Electronics City, on Thursday. The victim, Rajesh Choudhary, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was a resident of Ramamurthy Nagar. On Thursday morning, after visiting his relatives at Kudlu Gate, he went to the top floor of the building and tried to jump. Workers and passers-by tried to convince him to come down. Police and Fire and Emergency Services personnel, who rushed to the spot, joined the efforts.

A tense standoff ensued as each time Choudhary noticed someone trying to climb the stairs, he threatened to jump. On seeing a policeman entering the building, Choudhary jumped, said a police official. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead.
