Tired of trudging to the police station and back following up on your complaint? Now you can do so digitally in tech city. The police have announced a unique service, “Complaint status through SMS”, to help complainants know the status of their complaints.
Through this people-friendly service, the police will provide the information through mobile phones. This service will be launched either on August 15 or before November 26.
This initiative was announced on the occasion of Complainants' Day at the Cubbon Park police station here on Sunday by Police Commissioner Shankar M. Bidari. He said: “Complainants have to send an SMS to a specific number to know about their complaints. Shortly thereafter, information about the case will be provided to them through SMS. Additionally, information about cases pending before court will be made available.”
Updates
Mr. Bidari also said officials concerned will attend to public grievances and provide updates on cases on the third Sunday of every month.
He advised the public “not to refer the personal and family disputes to the police, as such matters will only add to the hardships of the public.”
Complainants were advised to provide more details, if any, about cases and co-operate with the police.
On Sunday, 120 complainants obtained information about their cases registered with the police.
