Small-time actors impersonating CCB sleuths arrested

Two small-time TV actors, who were impersonating Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths and fleecing the public, , were arrested by the Bharathinagar police.

The arrested — Anil Kumar and Faizan, residents of R.T. Nagar, — were nabbed a few hours after they robbed two persons near Ulsoor lake around 8.30 p.m. on Saturday. The police said the duo accosted Siddarth, a resident of Chamarajpet, who was speaking to his friend and relieved him of Rs. 1,700 after threatening him.

The victims gave a description of the robbers to the police who were able to track them down and arrest them. The Bharathinagar police have increased surveillance around Ulsoor lake after other incidents were reported.

Youth arrested

A 24-year-old has been arrested on the charge of setting three two-wheelers on fire at 12th Main in Kodandaramapura recently.

The Vyalikaval police said the accused, Manjunath, was in the habit of stealing petrol from parked two-wheelers. On November 19, after stealing petrol, he allegedly set the vehicles on fire, the police said in a release.

Hawala operators held

Two alleged hawala operators were arrested from a shop in Kumarpete on Saturday by CCB sleuths in Halasuru Gate police limits.

A total of Rs. 45 lakh used in hawala transactions were seized from Bhimram Patil and Suresh Patil, both hailing from Gujarat.
