Six held, two cases solved

The police claimed to have cracked two cases, arresting six people, in all, on the charge of chain snatching, fraud and theft.

Madiwala police arrested four people wanted for chain snatching and fraud. Salil Ahmed (21), a nephew of anti-social element Tanveer, and his accomplices, Siddiq (21), Ameen (20) and Shaheed Khan (23), were arrested on August 18, the police said in press release.

The police said that gold necklaces and ornaments worth Rs. 6,50,000 were confiscated from the arrested. The accused had cases registered against them in Madiwala, J.P. Nagar and Tilak Nagar police stations.

Madiwala police also arrested two persons in connection with a spate of motorcycle thefts in the area. Satish (20) and Kempegowda (19) were arrested on August 26 and six motorcycles were seized from them, the police said.

Raid

Two men were arrested for illegally running a discotheque in a bar on 100 ft Road, Indiranagar, here on Saturday night, the police said.

Vikas and Deepak, both 26, were arrested after sleuths from the Women and Narcotics wing of the City Crime Branch (CCB) raided the bar in Indiranagar. Owners of the bar, Kanindra Burman and Pankaj Patiya, are still at large, the police said.

A complaint had been lodged against the accused in the Indiranagar police station.
