Six children sustained eye injuries during Deepawali celebrations since Thursday have been admitted to Minto Eye Hospital, out of which three cases are serious.

A senior doctor at the Minto Hospital said that while the three children have been treated and discharged the other three children who have lost their sight partially have been admitted as in-patients for surgery.

According to him most of the children below 10 years are by-standers. Around 25 children with eye injuries have been admitted in different hospitals across the city, he said.

However, the doctors mentioned, in comparison to last year the number of cases are less.
