Six arrested for ex-councillor’s murder

Police on the lookout for more suspects

Six people were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of former councillor Govinde Gowda last week.

Two — Velu, 23, from Hegganahalli and Abhishek, 25, a resident of Magadi, have been arrested for the murder. Four others — Rahul, 19, and Sandeep, 25, who are residents of Hegganahalli, and Lakshmana, 25, and Devraj, 29, have been booked for abetting the crime by helping Abhishek evade the police.

The Rajagopal Nagar police, who are investigating the murder, are on the lookout for some more suspects.

Govinde Gowda, 58, was hacked to death at Hegganahalli Cross on Saturday by a group of men armed with machetes and knives. Gowda was shifted to a hospital, but succumbed to his injuries later that night.
