The flag bearer of Bangalore's image as cosmopolitan and upwardly-mobile, Indiranagar is the last word in top brands, world cuisine and, of course, real estate. Its selling point has, however, come at a cost: much of its famed greenery has made way for the metro and old buildings have been replaced by apartments.
Basketball Club In its 25 years, the Basketball Club has churned out some 40 national and at least four international players. The club, however, is waiting for government sanction to turn its court into an indoor facility. The court will have a wooden flooring and it will be air-contioned.
The Spastics Society The Spastics Society of Karnataka works towards the welfare of persons with neuro-muscular and developmental disabilities such as cerebral palsy, autism or learning disabilities. The society serves 1,300 children annually, with diagnostic and intervention services.
Sangeetha Sabha The sabha promotes classical music and dance and describes itself as having “been instrumental in filling a cultural vacuum in the eastern part of Bangalore city”. While its Centre for Performing Arts (Purandara Bhavana) is an ideal space for programmes, the School of Performing Arts offers a diploma certificate.
