Siddaramaiah’s debt to BJP

March 26, 2015 06:54 pm | Updated 06:54 pm IST - BENGALURU:

Does Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have a reason to thank the BJP on an important turn in his political career?

It is ‘Yes’, according to Opposition Leader in the legislative Council K.S. Eshwarappa. Rewinding to 1984, he reminded the Chief Minister that it was because of the BJP’s support that the late Ramakrishna Hegde could form a government then. Mr. Siddaramaiah had become a Minister for the first time in Hegde’s Cabinet.

The Chief Minister said, half in jest, that he did not belong to the Janata Party back then and had not won from a ticket from that party. Mr. Eshwarappa said that he could not distance himself from the alliance so easily.
