Unabated rain in the city, flooding and potholed roads making headlines has not gone down well with the Congress high command.

K.C. Venugopal, AICC General Secretary in charge of Karnataka, convened a meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, legislators and Ministers here on Friday and reportedly expressed concern about adverse media publicity in the city against the Congress government owing to the continuous inconvenience suffered by residents and commuters in different parts of the city.

With the city’s infrastructure woes increasing after heavy rain, Mr. Venugopal sought details on frequent flooding and the problems faced by residents caused by damaged roads.

Tough talk

Following tough talk by Mr. Venugopal, Mr. Siddaramaiah has convened a meeting to discuss the civic problems of the city on Saturday.

Besides city Ministers, the meeting will be attended by top officials of all civic agencies, including BBMP, BDA, BWSSB, and BESCOM.

Mr. Venugopal chaired a meeting with Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy and gathered information on the progress of the probe into the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh.
